I am an Assistant Professor of economics at Saint Mary's College of California. At Saint Mary's I usually teach macroeconomic principles, intermediate applied courses (International Trade, Money and Banking, Economic Development, Intermediate Macroeconomics) , and a graduate level macroeconomics course during summers, but it varies. As a primary instructor, I have taught over 50 sections of various undergraduate courses as well as a handful of graduate level courses. Some of the undergraduate courses I have taught include: principles of micro and macroeconomics, comparative economic systems, intermediate macro, microeconomics theory, international trade, money and banking, econometrics, business statistics. I also had the opportunity to oversee various undergraduate independent study research projects and economic major capstone courses. I have taught mostly intermediate level applied macroeconomics graduate courses for the MS in Management at St. Mary's College.
My fields of research are immigration, trade and economic growth. Specifically, I am interested in the differential effect of immigrants and refuges on trade with their home countries. In addition, I am interested in how differential fertility affects cross-country human capital accumulation and economic growth. Recently, I started looking into how international bilateral labor agreements affect aggregate and sector-level trade flows. I am also active in the field of economics education. You can read more about my research under the research tab.
I enjoy teaching, working with students and helping them develop a keen interest in the subject of economics as well as encouraging them to develop new research ideas and engage in economic research projects. I am humbled and grateful to have received the "Outstanding Teacher Award" at St. Mary's College in 2020 and an "Outstanding Service Award" in 2021 for student advising and committee work at the College.
